Rangers know that if Brondby fail to beat group winners Lyon in Denmark, a win by two clear goals would be enough to see them clinch second spot with a game to spare.

The importance of the match and the fact that it’s Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first as manager ensures that the atmosphere will be electric under the lights.

However, Pavelka doesn’t think it will put Sparta off.

“I don’t know about responsibility [translated],” replied the 30-year-old after being asked if he’d have to help the younger players in the team through the occasion []. “The boys have had enough (experience of intense atmospheres), and I don’t think it would affect them in any way.”

“On the contrary, I think everyone is looking forward to it. Some have already played these big matches and the atmosphere is part of that.

“I don’t think we should have a bigger problem.”

Pavelka has started the vast majority of Sparta’s matches in all competitions so far this season and has been named captain by Pavel Vrba on a number of occasions.

He’s likely to be deployed in a defensive midfield role at Ibrox to provide protection for the defence and Rangers will need to be precise with their build-up play if they are to break down the visitors, who will be extra determined to be strong at the back after shipping four goals at Slovacko at the weekend.
