Rangers are set to take on Raith Rovers in Derek McInnes’ first pre-season game in charge on Saturday, 4 July.

The game will be played at the Rangers Training Centre to give the players some minutes under their belt, with a new manager taking over the reins.

Following that, the team will be heading out to Spain for their pre-season training camp, scrapping plans of having it in Austria.

How will you remember Jack Butland for his time as the Rangers number one?

Nicolas Raskin among seven first-team players to be unavailable for the game

Rangers have three players who are currently at the World Cup, who, by default, will not be available for this game.

They include Belgium’s Nicolas Raskin, Norway’s Thelo Aasgaard and also new signing Ivor Pandur, who is Croatia’s reserve goalkeeper.

Lawrence Shankland, Liam Kelly, Findlay Curtis and John Souttar were all part of the Scotland side that got knocked out in the group stages.

However, despite that, they are not back in pre-season training as they are following FIFA’s recommended post-tournament recovery period of three weeks.

Apart from that, new signings Ben Godfrey, Ross McCrorie and Dan Neil are all expected to be in contention.

Mason Munn could start in goal for Rangers, with Dan Neil getting a nod in midfield

With two goalkeepers unavailable due to the World Cup, this game gives McInnes a good opportunity to try out Mason Munn in goal.

Rangers News has learned that McCrorie, Neil and Godfrey have all trained well this week and are in consideration to start this game.

It could be a toss-up as to who starts at centre-back, but Clinton Nsiala could also be handed a start before a decision is made on his future.

He will partner Emmanuel Fernandez, with McCrorie being the right-back and Tuur Rommens the left-back.

Bailey Rice signed a new contract and could be given a start, partnering the new signing Neil in midfield.
