Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action on Sunday afternoon, when they take on Motherwell in a 3pm kick-off at Ibrox.
Ahead of the game, Steven Gerrard has predicted that he will freshen up the side, but that there won’t be wholesale changes [Rangers.co.uk].
That’s following an outstanding showing by the XI he selected against Porto on Thursday evening.
Defensively, the Gers were excellent in Portugal. Therefore, it’s possible that Steven Gerrard will keep the same back four for this one.
Nikola Katic has been Connor Goldson’s usual partner in the league, but it would be extremely harsh to leave out Helander after his outstanding showing at the Dragao.
Central midfield is where changes are most likely. Nigeria international Joe Aribo was only used as a substitute in the Europa League, so he is fresh and ready to come in. His inclusion is made even more likely by the fact that Glen Kamara is a doubt through illness, while Gerrard has also expressed concerns about fielding Ryan Jack.
If Jack is left out as a precaution, Andy King could come into the side to finally earn his first Rangers start.
At the top end of the pitch, we’re predicting just the one change. Greg Stewart has impressed in the last two home league fixtures, so he should return in place of Brandon Barker.
Gerrard expressed workload concerns for Ryan Kent, but we’re backing the ex-Liverpool man to start nonetheless, as Rangers look to kill the game off early on.
Meanwhile, the red hot Morelos should lead the line again, with a view to Jermain Defoe perhaps coming in to face Ross County in midweek.
