The 4pm kick-off in Govan on Sunday will be the third time the two sides have met this season.

The first meeting at Ibrox in October ended 1-1, with Craig Halkett pouncing on an Allan McGregor to net a late equaliser, but the Gers triumphed 2-0 at Tynecastle in December courtesy of early goals from Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo.

Collum named referee for Rangers vs Hearts

It’s second vs third in the Premiership table and Willie Collum has been tasked with keeping a lid on things [Scottish FA].

The experienced 43-year-old has taken charge of Rangers matches on 54 previous occasions, with the Light Blues winning 35, drawing seven and losing 12 [Transfermarkt].

In those matches, he’s sent six Gers off compared to 15 opposition players, while he’s awarded Rangers 17 penalties compared to eight for their opponents.

The only Rangers league match he’s officiated so far this season was against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in September, and the visitors won 2-1.

Collum will be assisted on the day by David Doig and John McCrossan, while Andrew Dallas will be on fourth official duty.

With Celtic taking on Motherwell earlier in the afternoon at Fir Park, there’s a chance that Gio’s men will be four points behind their fiercest rivals by the time the game starts.

Meanwhile, Man United manager Ralf Rangnick has explained why Amad Diallo was allowed to join Rangers on loan.
