Sunday afternoon’s derby between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox is in allegedly in doubt after a journalist claimed the SPFL and SFA are locked in ‘urgent’ talks.
Stephen McGowan, the Scottish Daily Mail’s chief football writer, tweeted on Thursday morning to assert that the two bodies were in dialogue amid a wave of postponements across European football in an attempt to slow the spread of Coronavirus.

The Premier League has followed the lead of Serie A and La Liga by announcing a suspension of its season as increasingly drastic measures are employed.
At present, Sunday’s Old Firm is set to be played in a sold-out stadium, but it seems a rethink is currently underway.

The Glasgow derby is just one of a full card of Premiership fixtures scheduled to take place across the weekend, with Motherwell taking on Aberdeen at Fir Park this evening.
In light of the decisions taken by the football authorities in other countries, it would seem bizarre to allow the games to go ahead.
We’re entering unchartered territory here, so it will be interesting to see what the SFA and SPFL come up with in terms of the length of any potential league suspension.
Time is of the essence now, though, and fans will be demanding a decision is made sooner rather than later.
UPDATE: An SFA and SPFL response group have since announced the suspension of all domestic professional and grassroots football with immediate effect [SPFL.co.uk].
