Rangers v Hibernian – Player ratings
Philippe Clement had his strongest squad available for some time with a forward line that finally has some depth, here is how they performed:
Jack Butland – 7
Didn’t have much to do and was unlucky with Hibs goal in that he was brave to dive at the feet of the goalscorer.
James Tavernier – 8
Might see himself relieved of penalty duties after another miss but more than made amends with the opening goal.
Put in some decent crosses and should probably have had a second goal.
Defended well too.
Borna Barisic – 4
Seemed to get in Fabio Silva’s way, didn’t really offer anything in attack and was replaced just after the hour mark with what looked like a hamstring strain.
Connor Goldson – 8
Solid throughout and did well to get a tackle in when Hibs levelled, didn’t get the break his intervention deserved.
John Souttar – 8
Like his central partner, dealt with every threat that was thrown at him with most of the danger coming down the channels.

John Lundstram – 6
Was poor out of possession and particularly for Hibs goal.
Caught flat footed with the first pass and then ball watched once he had recovered back into the box.
Improved in the second half but couldn’t really get anything going.
Mohamed Diomande – 7
Better on the ball than Lundstram and went about his work quietly and effective but needs to do more in the final third.
Todd Cantwell – 7
First start for a couple of months but didn’t show it and looked sharp in possession.
Inch perfect cross for Cyriel Dessers to score Rangers second.

Scott Wright – 5
Had three good, clear cut chances and scored the hardest one only for it to be chalked off by an incredible refereeing decision.
Cyriel Dessers – 9
Great shift from the big Nigerian who looks a lot more confident after being away with his country.
Drew one excellent save from David Marshall, put another chance on a plate for Wright and was unlucky not to score a second, Rangers TV’s man of the match.
The Nigerian Nightmare is back.
Fabio Silva – 6
Worked hard but seemed to miss Ridvan Yilmaz, not his best display for Rangers.
Substitutes
Ross McCausland – 5
Needs to start taking players on again, he’s there to create chances and cause problems.
Choosing the safe option every time isn’t good enough.
Tom Lawrence – 6
Some neat touches, should have shot instead of cutting it back when clean through though.
Dujon Sterling – 6
Usual shift from the utility man, started on the wing before dropping into left-back.
Abdallah Sima – 6
Great to see the Sengal international back after almost three months out.
Rabbi Matondo – 8
Brought on to add a bit more pace to the attack and his first meaningful touch put Hibs on the back foot before unleashing a screamer into the far corner.
