Rangers take on Celtic in the League Cup final on Sunday afternoon in what is a massive fixture for Scottish football.
The Gers are attempting to finally get their hands on major silverware again after a long and painful wait, whilst simultaneously trying to stop their arch-rivals from winning ten domestic trophies in a row.
BT Sport have the rights for the Hampden showpiece and it seems they are taking it suitably seriously.
On Thursday afternoon, they released the matchday schedule in full, with nine hours of coverage in total, in an attempt to ensure fans have all bases covered before, during and after the game.
Specific coverage is deemed to start at 9 am as Steven Gerrard guests on the ‘What I Wore’ series. This 15-minute feature, which aired for the first time earlier this week, was shot at the Hummel Training Centre but focuses primarily on his career with Liverpool.
‘What I Wore’ is followed by a 45-minute ‘Old Firm Car Pool’ episode, before the build-up starts in earnest with the hour-long ‘Big Hampden Breakfast’ at 10 am.
At 11 am, Scottish Football Extra occupies a half an hour slot, before the ‘Road to the Final’ takes us up to 12 pm.
Then, an hour-long ‘Old Firm Memories’ programme leads into two hours of live buildup, before kick-off finally arrives at 3 pm.
As long as there’s no extra time, an hour-long ‘Cup Final Review’ from 5pm will feature the post-match reaction.
It’s an impressive schedule from the broadcasters, reflecting the magnitude of the occasion.
There were plenty of Bears disappointed to miss out on tickets in the ballot, but at least those not heading to the national stadium will have proper coverage to tune in to.
