Rangers took on Benfica in the first leg of our Europa League last 16 tie at the Estadio da Luz in yet another high profile European encounter for Philippe Clement.
The Gers boss has far from a fully fit squad to choose from but was still hoping to take a result back to Ibrox where anything can happen.
Here are your Rangers player ratings with Benfica providing the hardest test yet for the gaffer on an action packed night.

Rangers v Benfica – Player ratings
Philippe Clement was restricted with his starting XI and options off the bench but this is how the players that were selected scored.
Jack Butland – 9
If Gareth Southgate was watching, Jordan Pickford might be bother, never mind just getting a place in the squad.
Outstanding in the first-half and the main reason we went in 2-1 in front.
Claimed everything in the second.
James Tavernier – 7
Had his work cut out defending and had to be at full concentration.
Not his best night in possession but formed a solid pairing with Dujon Sterling.
Ridvan Yilmaz – 8
Like Tavernier, wasn’t as cavalier as normal but still got in a few teasing crosses.
Connor Goldson – 7
A tough shift for the vice-captain given the quality of opposition but threw himself at everything.
Unfortunately, this included a free-kick that he should have left to go out for a goal kick and left Butland with no chance.
John Souttar – 8
So unlucky for the penalty that went against him because he had been a colossus up until that point and was in the second half too.

John Lundstram – 5
Work rate was immense but he was up against some very quick and very technical midfielders.
Struggled at times to influence play when we had possession and got caught out a few times.
Mohamed Diomande – 8
Looks a natural at this level, more composed than most of his senior teammates and could be a real difference maker on European nights.
Tom Lawrence – 7
Had to do a lot of running for not much in return with Cyriel Dessers struggling to hold the ball up.
His run and header for the opening goal showed exactly why he is in the team.

Dujon Sterling – 8
He is perfect for this type of game.
A power of running, carried the ball out of pressure and didn’t give anyone on his side a minute’s peace.
Perfectly timed run and perfect moment to score his first goal for the club.
Cyriel Dessers – 4
Ineffective.
Needed to hold the ball up a lot better to let his team get up the pitch but gave it away far too often.
Fabio Silva – 8
Outstanding shift as the 21-year old returned to where he spent his younger years.
Not only was he our biggest attacking threat but he showed that he is more than happy to dig in and do the hard work too.

Substitutes
Ryan Jack – 6
Came on as things got stretched to shore things up in midfield.
Cole McKinnon – 6
This time last year he was struggling to get into Partick Thistle’s team, what a night for the academy product to come on.
Kemar Roofe – 6
His first touch was better than anything Dessers had done all night.
If only he could start.
Nico Raskin – 6
Much needed fresh legs in the engine room
late on.
Ross McCausland – 6
On in injury time.
