New Rangers manager Michael Beale has been talking about the futures of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent at Ibrox – and suggests there is “no problem” with the pair as their deals tick down.

Kent and Morelos have been key players for Rangers in recent seasons but as they enter the final years of their respective deals fans have complained of a downturn in form, raising questions regarding commitment.

Whilst Michael Beale has previously suggested dropping or moving on those individuals who aren’t all in at Ibrox, the manager has gone into more depth regarding the specific situations surrounding Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Rangers manager was relaxed about the situation and pointed to Connor Goldson as he insisted the situation involving Kent and Morelos was not a problem.

However, Beale did admit that neither player has shown what they’re capable of this season as he hopes to rejuvenate the Rangers squad heading into the second half of the campaign.

The Rangers manager also admitted that “ideally”, both would still be at Ibrox beyond the end of their current deals.

Michael Beale gives Kent and Morelos Rangers update

“I think that is ongoing (Kent and Morelos contract talks), certainly, I will get to have an opinion on that but that’s been ongoing,” said Michael Beale [Sky Sports].

“They are two players that I worked well with previously.

“I have obviously known Ryan and his family since he was 14 so there is a strong relationship there built over trust over ten years.

“When I was here previously they were both excellent in different ways; Alfredo in terms of the goals he scored and Ryan in the way he entertained people and got on the ball and took the game to the opponent.

“I think they are capable of more than they are showing right now – that’s fair to say. But there will be reasons, they will have their own reasons for that and be working away at it.

“But I trust both players. We’ve played this out as a club before with Connor Goldson and his contract situation and sometimes a player wants to see and wants to take their time, there’s no problem.

“It’s fine, we keep talking. I think the option is both ways with both players as well. The cards ain’t in Ryan and Alfredo’s hands if you like, we also want to create a stronger Rangers moving forward with or without those players – ideally with them.”

Meanwhile, one routinely Rangers-linked Ibrox star could be La Liga bound.
