Rangers U18s destroy Hearts as exciting young striker bags hat-trick

Rangers U18s destroyed Hearts 6-1 at the Rangers Training Centre on Friday night with exciting young striker Rory Wilson bagging a first-half hat-trick.

The Young Gers had a mixed start to the season but they’ve been in strong form recently, beating Kilmarnock, Hamilton and Celtic in recent weeks, so they came into this clash against the Jambos with plenty of momentum.

It didn’t take them long to open the scoring at Auchenhowie, either, with Rory Wilson scoring from the spot in the eighth minute after Robbie Ure had been fouled in the penalty area [Rfcyouths.wordpress.com].

Wilson doubled the lead less than ten minutes later and in the 20th minute, Northern Ireland youth international Charlie Lindsay made it 3-0.

James Graham has spent a lot of time out injured since arriving from Ross County in June 2020 but he’s now really starting to fire and he made it four with a long-range effort before Wilson completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half-time.

Hearts pulled one back three minutes into the second period through Callum Sandilands, but the game was already well beyond them and the Rangers coaching staff took the opportunity to make a number of substitutions.

There was still another goal in the game for the hosts, though, with Connor Allan latching onto a Tyler Pasnik pass in the 81st minute to make it 6-1 [Rfcyouths.wordpress.com].

This is an extremely impressive result for the Young Gers, given that Hearts were only one place behind them in third in the league table coming into the game.

It’s another eye-catching effort from 15-year-old Rory Wilson, too. Despite his age, he’s been a standout performer all season at this age group, while also representing Scotland U17s and the Gers B team.
