Rangers have reportedly turned down a bid for defender Borna Barisic from Premier League side Leeds United, according to reports in the player’s homeland.

Sportske Novosti are claiming that Marcelo Bielsa’s side made an £8m (€9m) bid for the Croatian international during the transfer window which was rejected by Rangers.

The full-back is amongst the club’s most important players and valued assets and it remains unclear if the Premier League newboys will return with another bid.

Leeds United had previously been linked with a move for Barisic in early August [Football Insider] but this is the first suggestion they made that interest concrete with an offer.

It is the second Rangers player for whom Leeds have seen a bid thrown out already this season with the Elland Road club also expressing an interest in Ryan Kent.

Similarly to Borna Barisic, Kent is a key Rangers asset and Leeds’ reported bid of £10m was “strongly rejected” by the Gers.

That interest appears to have cooled given Rangers would be under no pressure to sell the player if a multi -million pound move by Lille for Alfredo Morelos comes off in the coming weeks.

Borna Barisic, 27, signed a new contract at Rangers last season and has spoken previously about how committed to the cause he is at Ibrox.
