Rangers had over a million more social media interactions than Old Firm rivals Celtic in the month of September as the club’s online presence flexes its muscles.

The research – done by Deportes & Finanzas – found that Rangers were the Scottish football club with the highest social media engagement during September 2020.

Across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok, Rangers raked in a pretty incredible 3.3m interactions.

Across the city, Celtic were left in no doubt about which club is the biggest and best in Scotland as their paltry 2.28m paled in significance to the Rangers total.

 

Whilst Rangers have been without success off the field over the last decade, stories such as this highlight both just how loyal the support is and how big it is.

Celtic might’ve been pipping Rangers on the field but despite their dominance Rangers are still clearly the nation’s premier club.

Whilst many Rangers fans would trade these sorts of statistics for success on the pitch, they’re an insight into the power that the Rangers support possesses.

The fans have not stopped following the Ibrox club and continue to interact with Rangers online.

But now it’s the time for the team to repay that support with silverware as the pressure begins to mount in Scottish football this season.
