Rangers new boy Dujon Sterling has received messages from Calvin Bassey and rumoured Gers target Jonathan Panzo.

The Gers pounced to make their second signing of the summer earlier this week, confirming the arrival of Chelsea defender Sterling.

Norwich City playmaker Kieran Dowell had already arrived and Beale has now added Sterling too.

The right back spent last season out on loan at Stoke City but his Chelsea contract has come to an end.

Michael Beale wanted more competition for James Tavernier and has now pounced for a player he knows well.

Beale and Sterling know each other from the Chelsea youth ranks and a reunion has now been struck.

Sterling adds to the depth at the back for Rangers and even offers the ability to play as a right-sided centre back in a three-man defence.

This looks like a sensible, low-cost move for Rangers and Sterling has been receiving messages after completing his move.

Calvin Bassey and Jonathan Panzo send messages to Dujon Sterling

Sterling took to Instagram to post that he is ‘excited’ to have joined such an ‘amazing club’ in Rangers.

Sterling can’t wait to play in front of the ‘most incredible fans’ and noted that he is looking forward to the season ahead.

Rangers will have spotted Ajax defender Calvin Bassey in the comments, wishing Sterling ‘all the best bro’.

Bassey left Rangers last summer but showed the club is still close to his heart with the classic WATP hashtag.

Fans may also have seen that Jonathan Panzo sent a message to, mirroring the ‘all the best bro’ message from Bassey.

Panzo knows Sterling from the Chelsea youth ranks and could yet end up joining him at Ibrox.

Football Scotland reported just a few days ago that Beale would like to bring Nottingham Forest defender Panzo to Ibrox.

Panzo was linked with Rangers in April and, just like Sterling, knows Beale from the Chelsea setup.

Panzo has just lost the Championship playoff final with Coventry City and seeing Sterling join Rangers may just make a move to Ibrox even more appealing to him.
