Kenny McLean could quite easily have been a Rangers player this season.
The club were at one point very keen and said to be exploring a deal for the boyhood Gers fan before it was reported the potential finances required were too much.
McLean has been open in the past about wanting to sign on at Ibrox one day and pull on the famous blue jersey and so there was a belief a deal could be done.
It didn’t happen though and he went on to insist he was always happy to stay at Norwich for another Championship promotion attempt after picking up their player of the year award last season.
Barry Ferguson though went on to claim that it is ‘no secret’ McLean will end up at Rangers one day.
Things aren’t going according to plan so far with the Canaries sitting tenth, although a play-offs push wouldn’t be out of the question.
Their most recent game was a 0-0 draw with Portsmouth last night but it’s the weekend’s 3-0 defeat to QPR which has landed the 32-year-old in hot water.

Kenny McLean handed four-match Norwich ban
Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean was involved in a first-half clash with QPR winger Kieran Morgan during Saturday’s Championship match.
The Scotland man appeared to catch his opponent with his arm but it went unchecked by officials at the time and he escaped any punishment, able to carry on with the rest of the match.
But after the incident was caught on camera, the FA charged him with violent conduct.
And even though he denied the charge, he was found guilty and has landed himself a four-match ban.
A statement from the FA read: “An independent regulatory commission has suspended Norwich City’s Kenny McLean for four matches following violent conduct in their EFL Championship match against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, December 7.
“The midfielder’s behaviour during the 24th minute of the game wasn’t seen by the match officials at the time, but it was caught on camera, and The FA subsequently alleged that it constitutes violent conduct.
“Kenny McLean denied this charge against him and submitted that the automatic penalty is excessive if found proven.
“The independent regulatory commission found it to be proven and imposed his sanction following a hearing. Its written reasons will be published in due course. The sanction is four matches rather than three as it is Kenny McLean’s second dismissal this season.”
McLean had only just returned to the side following a three-match ban for a straight red card picked up against Middlesbrough.
McLean suspension incredibly harsh
BBC Radio Norfolk presenter Chris Goreham shared a clip of the apparent incident and said: “We think this is the incident that’s got Kenny McLean another four-match ban. Feels incredibly harsh.”
The clip shows McLean trying to mark Morgan during a QPR attack.
But as the winger runs across him on his blind side, he tries to reposition himself, and in doing so his arm comes ever so slightly.
What follows clearly appears to be an accidental collision and Morgan hits the deck holding his face.
The former Rangers target is immediately apologetic and goes to check on the player on the ground.
To make the resultant ban even worse, the referee is pretty much on the scene and has a good view, clearly feeling there was nothing untoward.
