Rangers are reportedly close to bringing midfielder Jose Cifuentes to Ibrox.

Journalist Raffaele Amato has reported on Twitter that Rangers have secured the services of Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes.

The 24-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the American club at the end of the year.

Amato has added that Rangers have beaten competition from Benfica and Toulouse for the Ecuador international midfielder.

Rangers manager Michael Beale has said that he is interested in the midfielder, but he has stated that a deal is not close.

Beale has described Cifuentes as “a good player”, as quoted in GlasgowLive.

Rangers fans should be optimistic about signing Jose Cifuentes

In our view, Rangers fans should be optimistic about the club eventually signing Jose Cifuentes.

That Rangers manager Michael Beale has publicly said that he is interested in Cifuentes suggests that something is happening.

Now, of course, Rangers may not sign the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window and could wait until January 2024.

After all, the Scottish Premiership club would have to pay Los Angeles FC a transfer fee if they signed Cifuentes in the summer of 2023.

So, it would make sense for Rangers to wait until January 2024 to secure the services of the Ecuador international midfielder on a free transfer.
