Rangers are set to strike a deal with stand-out Ibrox performer Connor Goldson ahead of the club’s assault on the Champions League next season.
Ibrox stalwart Goldson has been one of the foundations on which 55 has been built and the big 6ft3 defender has played every single minute of football for the club this season.
The Gers vice-captain is a hugely influential player at Ibrox but with a year remaining on his current deal this summer there were some fears regarding the player’s future.
Signing on an initial four-year contract back in 2018, the reported £3m spent on ex-Brighton defender Goldson will arguably go down as some of the best money spent in Rangers history.
Valued at £18m by football data analysts 21st Club – making him the Gers’ most valuable asset on paper – Goldson could effectively leave for nothing the season after next as things stand.
However – according to the Daily Record – the powerful 28-year-old defender is set to sign a contract extension at Ibrox.
That report claims that Goldson will follow the lead of captain James Tavernier and sign a two-year extension at the club, keeping him in Glasgow until 2024.
This would be amongst the best business the club could conduct heading into next season and show that Rangers mean business when it comes to reaching the Champions League.
Rangers fans were delighted at the extension of James Tavernier’s contract and we imagine it’ll be very similar should anything become official regarding Connor Goldson.
