BBC Scotland has announced a special Scottish Premiership Sportscene highlights programme set for Saturday nights ahead of the coming season.
The new programme will not impact the Championship highlights show on a Friday night and the traditional Sunday night show on BBC Scotland and is the first of its type since 2002.
This will begin as of the Scottish Premiership’s Saturday 1st August kick-off and the inaugural programme will include Rangers’ trip to Aberdeen as the day’s biggest match.

“Sportscene, BBC Scotland’s flagship football programme, will return on Saturday evenings this season for the first time since 2002,” read a BBC Scotland statement.
“The Scottish Premiership kicks off on 1 August and we will show the best of the day’s action and reaction each week.”
Rangers are set to travel to Pittodrie for the first game of the season in what is traditionally one of the division’s fieriest fixtures.
The SPFL have come under fire from Rangers fans and from certain members of the press for scheduling this season’s first Old Firm, held at Celtic Park, eleven games into the season.
This is the further possible date from the competition’s commencement and comes after pleas made by Celtic boss Neil Lennon to move the fixture.

BBC Scotland – with whom Rangers have had a quarrelsome relationship over the last decade – also announced live coverage of the second tier of Scottish football on its BBC Scotland channel.
The broadcaster also confirmed that its Sportscene Results programme will continue on Saturday afternoons whilst promoting its radio and digital online coverage of the Scottish game.
