On Wednesday, we took a look at the three toughest sides Rangers could face in R1 of Europa League Qualifying, based on the UEFA coefficient.
Now, it’s time to look to the other end of the scale. Who are the least fancied teams and by extension, the easiest opponents Rangers could be drawn against?
Once again, we turn to the data published by Kassiesa. The Gers are seeded and therefore, can only face unseeded clubs at this point.
The final unseeded spot is yet to be confirmed, so we will look at the second, third and fourth lowest ranked teams in turn.
Zeta Golubovci – 0.825
Zeta were the inaugural winners of the Montenegrin First League in 2006/07.
This time around, they finished third in their domestic competition, 13 points behind champions, Sutjeska [Soccerway].
Nicknamed ‘The Wolves’, their Stadion Tresjnica has a capacity of just 4000. They weren’t involved in last season’s competition.
Trans Narva – 1.000
This Estonian outfit qualified for the Europa League by virtue of finishing fourth in the Meistriliiga in 2018.
They play their home matches at the even smaller, Narva Kreenholm Stadium, with a capacity of just 1065.
However, they won’t carry any rustiness into the qualification process as the Meistriliiga runs through the summer months. Trans currently sit fifth, with just 17 points from 13 matches [Soccerway].
They fell to Zeljeznicar Sarajevo at this hurdle last season.
Gzira United – 1.025
This should be a more familiar name to Gers fans. Young full-back, Myles Beerman, went out on loan to the Maltese Premier League outfit back in January.
Nicknamed ‘the Maroons’, Gzira finished third in the league to book their qualifying slot [Soccerway]. They finished eight points behind champions, Valletta, and lost 5-0 on aggregate in QR1 to Radnicki Nis, last season.
