On Friday afternoon, Gio van Bronckhorst provided Rangers team news ahead of Sunday’s Premiership fixture against Hearts [Rangers FC Twitter].

The Gers are taking on the Jambos at Ibrox for the second time this season, having drawn 1-1 with the Edinburgh club in Govan in October.

After dropping to second place in the table following a dire Old Firm showing at Celtic Park in midweek, it’s important that the hosts take all three points this time around.

Rangers team news vs Hearts

The main good news is that star striker Alfredo Morelos, who scored six goals in nine matches prior to the winter break, is back from Colombia duty.

The 25-year-old missed several club fixtures after being called up by his country for World Cup Qualifiers against Peru and Argentina, but he didn’t feature in either match.

Morelos is back but Rangers will be without two other first-team players.

Ianis Hagi is a long-term absentee after undergoing surgery on a knee injury picked up against Stirling Albion last month, while Filip Helander is not yet fit enough to be considered for selection following a knee injury of his own.

Ramsey update

The manager then provided an update on deadline day loan signing Aaron Ramsey.

The Wales international wasn’t deemed ready for the midweek Old Firm, but when he signed he targeted the Hearts fixture and it looks like he may well be involved.

“Alfredo (Morelos) trained today and will be available for Sunday,” said GvB [Rangers FC Twitter].

“Hagi and Helander are the only players missing. Ramsey is looking good and we will assess him tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, a Rangers first-team player who is out of contract at the end of the season has given an update on his future.
