Reported Rangers target John Lundstram is set to leave Sheffield United in January after talks broke down over a new long-term contract.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who believe that manager Chris Wilder has made it clear he wanted the former Everton youngster to stay at Bramall Lane.
That report also directly names Rangers as one of the players who have been linked to the 26-year-old, with the offer of a contract at Sheffield United said to be in line with recent renewals of other players in the squad.
The report echoes the claims of The Star who – like Sky Sports – believe the likes of Burnley and Crystal Palace are also interested in the player.
With the player’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Sheffield United will now need to offload Lundstram or risk losing him for nothing in the summer.
These reports also come at the same time as Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara is being linked with a move away from Ibrox.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has made it clear he would like the Finnish international to sign a new contract at Ibrox after the midfielder has made a superb start to the season.
A TEAMtalk report linked a host of Premier League sides to Kamara with 13 clubs including German side Borussia Dortmund and French outfit Lille also named alongside the midfielder.
Should any of this interest in Rangers’ form midfielder – who should command a fee of at least £10m – become concrete, then this news about Lundstram could become more relevant at Ibrox.
As it stands Rangers currently have healthy competition in the middle of the park with deadline day South African midfielder Bongani Zungu joining up with his new teammates at training this week.
