Rangers wanted to sign Josh Doig in the summer of 2022, but the transfer did not happen. The 20-year-old defender moved to Hellas Verona from Hibernian instead, and it seems that he does not have any regret that a potential move to Ibrox did not happen.
According to The Times, Rangers wanted to sign Doig from Hibernian in the summer of 2022. Clubs in the Premier League were also keen on the youngster, but he went to Hellas Verona in Serie A instead. The transfer fee was £3 million, according to The Times.
The Scotland international defender has taken to life in Italy like a duck to water. Doig has played as a left-back or left wing-back. The 20-year-old has made 10 starts and four substitute appearances in Serie A so far this season. He has scored two goals and given three assists in those games.
And Doig is happy with how things are going in Italy at the moment.

The defender told The Times: “The fans have treated me so well — even the city, the food, the people have been so perfect.
The start of the season wasn’t the best, but with the squad of players we have now, I wanted to stay and help with the main focus of staying up. We’ve made a good start of it so far, so hopefully we can keep it going.”
Hellas Verona are third from bottom in the Serie A table at the moment with 14 points from 21 matches, five points behind 17th-placed Spezia, who have played 22 games.
