Oostende’s Zambian forward Fashion Sakala is “high on the wanted list” of Rangers as the Gers target a pre-contract move for the 23-year-old striker.
That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim Ibrox scouts have flagged the Belgian-based player who is also interesting the likes of Anderlecht, Newcastle United and West Ham.
Sakala has impressed during his two-and-a-half years in Belgium, this season scoring five goals in 15 Jupiler League games with Oostende 10th in the Belgian top tier.
In total Sakala has netted 20 goals for the club during his tenure and the Record claims that the striker is now ready for his next challenge.
With Sakala’s contract set to expire in the summer, Rangers can land the player on a cut-price deal and given his age this is a plausible move for the Gers.
A striker who can play on either flank, his versatility would fit into Rangers’ system and a cut-price deal would represent cost-effective business on the part of the club.
Formerly of Spartak Moscow in Russia, Sakala also turned out for Nchanga Rangers and Zanaco in his homeland before heading to Europe.
Sakala isn’t the only player being linked to Rangers on a pre-contract move either with the Gers reportedly eyeing a number of players on cut-price moves at the end of their current deals.
Steven Gerrard’s side have reportedly submitted a pre-contract offer for a left-sided player currently plying his trade in English League One.
