Rangers fan Scottish striker Lawrence Shankland has scored his second goal for Belgian side K Beerschot VA in their 2-0 victory over Genk.

The Belgian club currently sits bottom of the Jupiler Pro League after a torrid start.

Lawrence Shankland made the move over to the continent in the summer, signing for Beerschot for £1m from Dundee Utd.

Rangers were reportedly interested in him during Gerrard’s time at the club, however, nothing materialised as the striker scored goals for fun during spells at Ayr United and Dundee Utd.

With forward options at the time more limited than what they are now, he would have perhaps been a shrewd signing for the club.

His transfer to Belgium hasn’t exactly gone to plan so far, however.

The side has only won two league matches all season and are bottom of the league with just nine points.

Lawrence Shankland has had a tough start to life away from Scotland, although his form might be turning.

The Rangers supporting forward scored his first Beerschot goal in a 4-2 defeat to Anderlecht and now has his second in the straightforward win over Genk.

Can the striker overcome the challenge of moving abroad and playing in a new league to keep Beerschot in the top flight?

Only time will tell, however, the Scotsman needs to find his feet soon otherwise it could prove to be too late in the relegation battle.

In other news, Aston Villa has been linked with an £8m move for underperforming Rangers star.
