Rangers fans have showered Borna Barisic with praise after his exploits against Hamilton.
The Croatian international has undergone an incredible turnaround in recent months.
From a player who looked set to flop in Glasgow after a first season filled with injuries and poor form, he has transformed himself into one of the club’s most impressive performers.
In fact, since he was brought back into the team against Feyenoord last month, he’s barely put a foot wrong.
Starting his fifth consecutive game against Accies on Sunday afternoon [Soccerbase], it was he who set the tone with a wicked delivery into the area after five minutes.
This new, confidence-filled Barisic gives Rangers a balance which is lacking when either Jon Flanagan or Andy Halliday fill in at left-back.
Throughout the game, both he and right-back Tavernier threatened from wide areas, as the Gers launched wave after wave of attack at Accies.
It was on the hour mark, though, that Borna really stamped his authority on the game.
After Defoe drew a foul around 25-yards from goal, Barisic whipped the resulting free-kick over the wall and into the top right corner via the underside of the crossbar. It was an utterly unstoppable effort which gave the hosts a 3-0 lead and put the result beyond any doubt.

The 26-year-old had plenty of detractors amongst the Gers support up until recently. Some thought he was too lightweight for Scottish football and that he had flattered to deceive too many times.
Yet, we’re finally starting to see what the former Osijek man is capable of and he’s certainly won the fans over.
