Rangers summer exit heads for La Liga months later and came close to Gers reunion

It is safe to say Borna Barisic’s move to Trazonspor hasn’t worked out the way the ex-Rangers star would’ve liked.

The Turkish side completed a double free transfer swoop for the left-back and John Lundstram last summer after both of their Gers contracts came to an end.

But while the midfielder has been playing fairly regularly and scored his first goal recently, his mate hasn’t got on so well.

Having barely played, his only Super Lig start coming back in August, it was claimed Trabzonspor could look to terminate Barisic’s contract just a few month after signing him.

His start to life in Turkey was so troublesome that one pundit branded Barisic’s signing “a big mistake.

The 32-year-old could even have held the key to Ridvan Yilmaz’s future with Trabzon one of the clubs linked with the current Rangers man.

Yilmaz has stayed put after another window of speculation, but Barisic appears to be on the move.

Barisic ‘completes’ loan move to Leganes

It looks like it anyway, but there is at least some degree of confusion around it.

That’s because the La Liga website has announced Barisic as a deadline day loan signing for Leganes, even though neither club has officially confirmed it on their own channels.

It looks like the transfer was the last one to go through in the Spanish top flight before the deadline, meaning the clubs will likely formalise it this morning.

Barisic has played just 15 times for Trabzonspor and will spend the rest of the season on loan at Leganes, but then still has another year on his deal.

Barisic could have been Cyriel Dessers’ teammate

Barisic could have been lining up alongside former Rangers teammate Cyriel Dessers for the rest of the season, as Leganes were one of several clubs linked with Dessers.

The Nigerian has stayed put at Ibrox though and will look to continue his recent form to aid Rangers for the rest of the season.

And the Spaniards turned to a Premiership alternative to bolster their attack, signing Aberdeen’s Duk for an initial £600,000.
