As Malik Tillman talks a potential transfer to Rangers, it’s clear that the desires of the 20-year-old Bayern talent will be central to a deal being completed.
But as he takes a breather back in Germany following a season-ending injury, Rangers can bait the Malik Tillman transfer hook with a big summer of spending that reenergises a lacklustre squad.
Rangers are preparing for several high-profile exits this summer as the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander, Allan McGregor and Steven Davis finish their contracts.
There are also several players in the squad who are surrounded by commitment doubts, with the likes of Ben Davies and Glen Kamara perhaps topping the list.
Combine that with Rangers having to trim and improve areas across the team, and even bulk some areas out, and suddenly a big rebuilding job falls at the feet of Michael Beale.

Rangers transfer window can be pivotal in Malik Tillman deal
Central to that is a potential £5m deal for Tillman who, speaking after picking up the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award, remains open to a Rangers transfer from Bayern Munich.
“It’s 50-50, it’s up to Rangers, up to Bayern, and up to me so it’s completely open,” said the German-born USA international.
Rangers fans will be buoyed by the comments, as the Ibrox club look to convince Tillman that his future lies in Glasgow and beyond Bayern.
But with the attacking midfielder highly-rated back in Germany, there are clearly no guarantees that as things stand Rangers can get the deal over the line.
However, if the Ibrox side can snare their top targets early and Michael Beale’s vision for the squad becomes clearer, then there’s no doubt it can present a boost to Tillman.
Reports continue to swirl around the likes of Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell, Luis Palma and Josh Maja and all five would represent an exciting start to the window.
Tillman has been at Rangers when the times are tough and still waxes lyrical about the experience.
So much so that the lure of coming to the club in a positive moment, with fresh energy, might indeed sway him to return.
