Two Rangers players have been nominated for the Scottish Football Writers Association Player of the Year Award after their impressive form this season for Steven Gerrard’s side with Allan McGregor and Alfredo Morelos both shortlisted.
The duo join Celtic pair James Forrest and Callum McGregor on the four-man shortlist with Forrest looking to seal a double of individual awards after winning the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award last week.
The Gers duo have been in fantastic form this season with Morelos hitting the net 29 times so far while McGregor has played a massive part in the Light Blues’ much-improved defensive record this season.
Both will be hoping to get their hands on the trophy to cap off impressive seasons for each – while Morelos will hope to add it to his PFA Scotland Goal of the Season trophy.
The last Rangers player to win the award was former captain David Weir in 2010 and there’s a who’s who of Ibrox greats that have won it in the past.
Some of the Gers icons to have won the award in years gone by include John Greig, Ally McCoist, Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne and Sandy Jardine.
The winner will be revealed at a glitzy ceremony in Glasgow on May 19th.
