Ex-Rangers star and former Alfredo Morelos teammate Andy Halliday believes that the Colombian’s “days are numbered” at Ibrox.
The former Gers utility man was speaking on BBC Sportsound as he discussed the situation surrounding the lethal South American hitman.
After Morelos was dropped from the squad to face Kilmarnock, Halliday thinks that there is now a “different feeling” surrounding the striker.
But whilst Andy believes Morelos is set to vacate the scene at Ibrox, the former Bradford man believes that £18-20m for the player is actually a “bargain” such is the player’s ability, if not his form.
“The fact that the manager has completely dropped him out the squad that it does have that different feeling that his days are obviously numbered,” said Halliday [BBC Sportsound 24/08/20].
“[Alfredo] is someone who would brighten up your day and when training did come he was nothing but 100% effort.
“But obviously like I say it does seem like it’s got a different feel about it now with a couple of the comments the manager’s made after games.
“It’s good he managed to get a couple of goals in the St Mirren game but I don’t feel we have got the same performance (as last year).
“For the first 18 months under Steven Gerrard he was outstanding. And we are talking about values of 15 and 20 million.
“If we are talking talent alone I think that’s a bargain, I think it’s a great deal.”
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard claimed Alfredo Morelos had his “head turned” by the interest from Ligue 1 Lille.
A leading Colombian journalist has also been out claiming that there will be “announcements soon” on the player’s future with Lille reigniting their interest [Carlos Aleman].
