Two Rangers players have made it into the most recent BT Sport Football Team of the Week, selected by Darrell Currie and Chris Sutton.

After their stand out displays against East Fife, both Joe Aribo and Jermain Defoe are included in the League Cup special.

BT Sport covered the Gers match on Sunday and it’s no surprise to see these two names in the XI. They were the standout operators in Light Blue, in what eventually became a routine win.

Rangers stars Aribo and Defoe given the nod

Defoe once again displayed his predatory finishing with the opening goal and looked a threat throughout the 90 minutes.

He now has six goals in seven appearances this season, as he continues to produce aged 36.

Aribo was another who looked a class apart on the day. In the second half, in particular, he dictated the tempo of the game and looks an increasingly remarkable steal for a reported figure of £300k [Scotsman].

Persistence saw him grab his fourth goal of the season in the 84th minute, putting the gloss on the win.

There was also a spot in the side for former Gers striker Kenny Miller. Despite being just four months away from his 40th birthday, he played the full 120 minutes for Partick Thistle in a 3-2 win over Ross County.

Elsewhere, there was no room for any Celtic players after their stuttering win over Dunfermline. Likewise, no Kilmarnock nor Aberdeen players got the nod after they both also required extra time to reach the last eight.
