Rangers starlet posts social media message following Scottish Cup win

Rangers starlet Charlie McCann made his first-team debut in the 3-0 victory over Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup on Saturday and took to Twitter after to show he has a burning ambition to continue his journey to the Ibrox first team.

The former Manchester Utd youngster came on for Amad Diallo for a 20-minute cameo and he impressed on his debut, coming close to scoring a dream goal.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been using the Scottish Cup as a proving ground for fringe men and some youngsters to get minutes in their legs. Alex Lowry made his debut against Stirling Albion in the previous round and scored a magnificent goal which gave the manager some food for thought.

He started in the following match against Livingston and McCann will be hoping to have a similar output as the fire has been lit for his Gers career.

Former Rangers coach Michael Beale congratulated Charlie McCann on Twitter

Following the 19-year-olds Tweet, it wasn’t just fans who were praising him and his performance, an old coach weighed in with some words of encouragement. Michael Beale, who was part of Steven Gerrard’s backroom team replied to McCann’s message and this will be a boost for the player.

Beale would have had plenty of first-hand experience of seeing the Irishman in training and playing in the B team, so it was a nice touch for him to congratulate the midfielder.

In his first press conference, van Bronckhorst stated that players will be given an opportunity regardless of age and this has been proven correct with debuts handed to Lowry and McCann.

There is an abundance of talent in the B team and although the Dutchman will want to add to his squad with a few transfers in the summer window, there is a platform for some youth talents to push towards achieving a first-team berth.

In other news, a reported Rangers transfer target has shone for his new club in a victory that boosts their Champions League ambitions.
