Former Rangers winger Neil McCann has slammed “sulking” Ibrox forward Alfredo Morelos for his attitude in recent weeks.
The Colombian striker was dropped by Steven Gerrard last week as the Ibrox side dumped Kilmarnock 2-0 but was reinstated to the squad for the trip to Hamilton.
Morelos never managed to get off the bench and McCann suggested the player is beginning to understand that he’s no longer the main man at Ibrox.
“I think he had the message last week, he got it loud and clear,” said McCann [BBC Sport].
“And if he didn’t get it, then he’s not understanding.
“Because they way that Rangers have strengthened the squad – Itten, Roofe coming in, Hagi coming in with goals – I think Kent’s becoming the real talisman for Rangers now.
“So Morelos will be thinking ‘I’m not the main man’.
“When you look at his body language he’s still sitting that sulking way but there might be an element of the job was done.”
When asked if he believed that Morelos would stay at Rangers McCann said “I don’t think they will” pointing to the increased strength-in-depth but suggesting the club will only sell if “it’s right for the club”.
Rangers striker Morelos has been linked with a megabucks move to Ligue 1 side Lille but as it stands, Steven Gerrard expects the player back at Ibrox after the international break.
The Ibrox side are said to be willing to deal with Morelos but the club’s asking price has reportedly been set at £20m.
