Rangers star Borna Barisic has revealed his role in aiding Gers defender Nikola Katic in his recovery from an ACL injury at the beginning of the season.
Katic, 23, has spent the entire campaign on the sidelines as the big Croatian stopper was dealt a major blow ahead of the current season, with one eye also on the Euros in the summer.
But fellow Croatian national Borna Barisic has praised the defender’s attitude in his recovery and revealed to reporters that he feels somewhat responsible for the defender.
“I take responsibility with Niko (Katic), as it is not easy for him at the moment with injury after playing so well,” said Croatian international Borna [Rangers].
“I spend every day with him not just at the training ground but also outside of the training ground.
“He wants to be a part of what we’re doing on the pitch.
“I’m trying to help him wherever I can and mentally he is in a very good position and training very hard to come back better. He is a very strong character.
“Niko has the drive to come back faster, stronger and better than before. He is a very hard worker and is doing everything he can.
“He supports every game, he sometimes comes to our meeting, he comes to our games.”
Katic’s injury rocked the Ibrox club at the beginning of the season with the defender originally scheduled to return to action in January.

However, Rangers boss Gerrard revealed that the defender had suffered a setback in his recovery which means he is unlikely to play this season.
With Rangers now well-stocked at centre-back and Gerrard confirming there won’t be six options at the club next season, should the Gers look to a potential short-term solution with fan favourite Niko?
