Rangers star Kemar Roofe looks set to miss the Gers’ crunch Europa League clash against Sparta Prague on Thursday night after missing training on Wednesday.

Roofe has made 18 appearances so far this season and is the club’s top scorer with nine goals.

However, it looks highly unlikely that he’ll feature against the Czech giants at Ibrox.

The 28-year-old was forced off in the 74th minute of a World Cup Qualifier for Jamaica against El Salvador earlier this month.

The unspecified injury caused him to be sent home before the Reggae Boyz’ next fixture against the USA and he missed out on the squad for Rangers’ first match back after the break – their Premier Sports Cup semi-final defeat to Hibernian on Sunday.

There was no traditional squad update from Giovanni van Bronckhorst during his press conference on Wednesday, so no confirmation of Roofe’s status has been issued.

However, the former Leeds United and Anderlecht star was absent from the six-minute training video released by the club on Wednesday evening and he didn’t feature in the gallery published on Thursday morning, either.

Roofe scored in Rangers’ last Europa League home fixture and it’ll be a significant blow for the hosts if they are without him for what’s essentially a must-win game.

With Jermain Defoe not included in the Europa League squad and Cedric Itten out on loan, it means the new manager only has two fit players who can play up front against Sparta: Alfredo Morelos and Fashion Sakala.
