Rangers star is ‘great player’ like Billy Gilmour as Nice hero fawns over Chelsea reunion

Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka has been addressing journalists ahead of Rangers’ Europa League trip to face OGC Nice.

The 25-year-old is one of the brightest prospects between the sticks in European football and the Ligue 1 star is Poland’s long-term replacement for the legendary Wojciech Szczesny.

But before Marcin Bulka goes on to stake his claim as Poland’s number one, the ex-Chelsea stopper will hope to make a big impression against Rangers in the Europa League.

And it’s Bulka’s time at Stamford Bridge that has been the subject of a pre-match conversation with the ex-Blues goalie a former academy teammate of Dujon Sterling.

Alongside another ex-Rangers talent in Billy Gilmour, Bulka has branded the Rangers right-back a ‘great player’ but insists there will be no pleasantries come matchday in France.

Rangers star Dujon Sterling a ‘great player’

”I used to play with Dujon (Sterling) in Chelsea academy,” Marcin Bulka told Andy Newport. “He’s my age.

”He’s a right-back. He used to be at the time, I don’t know now because I haven’t heard from him for a long time.

”I think it’s good to play against the players that you know and they are your friends, they stay your friends.

”Recently I played against my other teammate with the national team, was Billy Gilmour, who played with me in Chelsea.

”It’s true that at Chelsea when I played we had many great players who are very important players in Europe and Dujon Sterling is one of them.

”It’ll be great to play against him and we’ll have to put this friendship aside and face each other tomorrow.

”I think it’ll be a great experience to play against another friend I had in the past.”

Nice goalkeeper ‘has never seen Rangers play’

Marcin Bulka has also been speaking about Rangers ahead of the club’s trip to Nice and – quite remarkably – claims he’s never seen the Ibrox side play.

Whilst the Rangers camp insist they’ve analysed OGC Nice to the nth degree, Bulka claims that he’s just expecting the same old British style hoofball in France.

Who’s going to tell him?

”I never saw them really playing,” said Bulka. “I know what I expect as you know (British) football is very intense.

”Tomorrow we have to be ready for all the possibilities.

”Also the coach he used to be in the French league in Monaco so he knows also the dynamic of the championship of France.

”I hope it’s going to be a great game and positive for us.”
