Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz will face Rangers in the Europa League as Steven Gerrard reveals striker Alfredo Morelos is “focused” ahead of the Europa League tie.

Both players have been subject to intense transfer speculation and naturally both Gerrard and Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz were subjected to questions on the pair.

Whilst Steven Gerrard was a little more hesitant in giving away whether Morelos would start or not, he confirmed the player was definitely in the squad.

Bosz was a little more forward with Havertz position in his starting XI amid reported £70m interest from Chelsea, with the Germans looking out for £90m.

“I will answer these questions very shortly,” said Bosz [Sky Sports].

“Yes, he will play and yes I’m convinced he’s 100 per cent still fighting for Leverkusen.”

Havertz, 21, is widely regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents and the Germany international was previously said to be keen on a move to Chelsea before the Europa League tie [Sky Sports].

However, Leverkusen director Rudi Voller claimed it was “set in stone” that Havertz would play and now Bosz appears to have come good on that promise.

“It is set in stone. There is no new stance,” Voller told Kicker.

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, 24, is the Europa League’s top scorer and has been heavily linked with a move to Lille during this transfer window.

The Gers are said to have rejected a £13.7m bid for the player and are holding out for closer to £18m [FootMercato].

Rangers currently trail Leverkusen 3-1 from the first leg at Ibrox and will need to score three if they are to stand a chance of progressing.

The inclusion of Leverkusen talisman Kai Havertz – who opened the scoring in Glasgow – makes that task considerably harder.
