Rangers star Glen Kamara is delaying a response on an offer of a new deal in order to ‘see what happens’ during the final days of the transfer window, according to a GiveMeSport report.

Kamara had a superb 2020/21 season at Ibrox before carrying his impressive form into the European Championships with Finland.

A number of clubs have been credited with interest in him, including Arsenal, Leeds United and Watford, with the Daily Mail suggesting earlier this summer that his price tag was around £10m.

Based on comments made by Steven Gerrard earlier this month, no formal bids have landed for the 25-year-old.

However, GiveMeSport reports that Kamara is holding out to see what is tabled during the final week of the window before committing to the Gers.

The report claims that Aston Villa are the latest Premier League club to consider a swoop.

The former Dundee star’s current deal runs until the end of next season.

Kamara stalling on new deal?

Kamara is set to be involved for Rangers in the second leg of the Europa League playoff against Alashkert on Thursday night and if he comes through that, he’ll almost certainly start Sunday’s Old Firm.

Those are two big matches for the club, so supporters will be hoping he’s 100% focused on the task at hand despite the uncertainty regarding his future.

A late window exit isn’t out of the question and it’s hard to blame a player for being curious about the kind of offers that may arrive, particularly given the number of reports crediting teams elsewhere with interest.

However, it would be a major boost for Rangers’ hopes of securing silverware this season if the Finn stayed put and subsequently signed an extension.

Covid cases have rocked the group ahead of their upcoming European and domestic assignments but Rangers have received a big boost prior to the Old Firm.
