It was the Croatian’s pull-back that Ryan Kent lashed past Fraser Forster in the first half and his pinpoint corner that Nikola Katic headed home to secure the points after the interval.

In addition to the two assists, the left-back defended stoutly, as he continues to prove his worth following a difficult 2018/19 season with the club.

His stellar showing earned him rave reviews from Bears and has also now seen him named alongside a host of world-class performers in this week’s FIFA Ultimate Team squad.

Just some of the other stars selected are £135m-rated Tottenham striker Harry Kane [Transfermarkt], prolific Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero, World Cup-winning midfielder N’Golo Kane and Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire.

As an established international with Croatia, Barisic is used to rubbing shoulders with top quality performers, but this is a big individual achievement nonetheless.

Having made a remarkable 32 appearances for club and country already this season, it’s time for the 27-year-old to rest up over the winter break ahead of a charge for the Premiership title in 2020.
