Rangers star Borna Barisic has responded emphatically to transfer interest from Roma, in an interview with Premier Sports.
The 27-year-old joined the Gers from Osijek in the summer of 2018, and this season has blossomed into a key player for Steven Gerrard.

Inevitably, his performances have led to transfer speculation and the manager recently confirmed that the Serie A giants had shown an interest in the player [Glasgow Times].
In this interview, conducted before the Scottish Cup Fourth Round clash between Rangers and Stranraer on Friday night, Barisic says he is flattered by the interest, but ultimately, is satisfied at Rangers.
“Very easy,” he told Premier Sports when asked how he finds dealing with the speculation. “Because I’m really fully focused on Rangers.”
“It’s nice, when some clubs, like Roma, ask for you and maybe want you to come. It’s a very nice feeling, you know, it’s such a big club.
“But, as I said, I’m fully focused on Rangers. I think I have time to progress here and I’m happy.”
Verdict
It’s great to see Barisic come out and address his future so clearly.
Like any player, he’s flattered by the transfer interest from a distinguished European club, but he knows what could be around the corner with the Gers.
He’s now settled in Glasgow, adored by the fan base and one of the first names on the teamsheet every week as Steven Gerrard’s men go in search of a 55th top-flight title.
If the league is secured and the Italians come back in in the summer, it may be a different story.
Yet, for now, the Croatian international is clearly content with life at Rangers and will be hoping to continue his strong form into 2020.
With James Tavernier sidelined after a minor operation, Barisic will become even more crucial to this side in attack over the coming weeks, and he’ll want to add to his tally of 13 assists for the season, sooner rather than later.
