Rangers captain James Tavernier is at the centre of a new retail launch with Castore as Premier League controversy bubbles for the kit maker.

In pictures taken at an indoor pitch inside the Rangers Training Centre, the new partnership campaign sees James Tavernier wear Castore’s new football training collection.

The Ibrox skipper is the retailer’s flagship collaborator for the launch and has been part of a range of pictures and clips which have been uploaded to social media.

The timing of the launch is probably out of the hands of James Tavernier and Castore with these sorts of campaigns built weeks before they go live.

But nonetheless the launch comes at a challenging time for both the Rangers captain and the club’s Manchester-based retail partners.

James Tavernier launches Castore kit amid scrutiny

Rangers are currently managerless with James Tavernier seeing the third Ibrox manager to be sacked during his tenure as club captain in Michael Beale.

There is huge scrutiny on the Ibrox skipper whose leadership of the team is now under question with Rangers seven points behind in the Scottish Premiership table.

There have even been calls for whoever comes in to the manager’s job at Rangers to think about moving away from the captain who needs to prove his mettle in the week’s ahead.

Whilst James Tavernier is under pressure at Ibrox, Castore are also in the midst of their own issues down in the Premier League.

Having lost their retail contract with Newcastle United amid complaints over quality, a second of their English top flight roster have suffered a second high-profile embarrassment.

Aston Villa are quickly trying to amend the material in the club’s Castore kits this season because of how they are retaining water and sticking to their Premier League stars.

Rangers have had a retail contract with Castore since 2020 with the Ibrox side the ambitious retailers first deal with a major football club.

As far as Rangers are concerned, Castore have also recently just released a creative fourth kit for the season.
