Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has revealed that Alfredo Morelos has apologised to his Ibrox teammates for his red card against Motherwell.
The 27-goal Colombian striker was controversially given his first red card of the season for his celebration after scoring the second in Rangers’ 2-0 win over the Steelmen.
The red card means Morelos is suspended for the trip to Hibernian and whilst the Rangers talisman might’ve been apologetic to his teammates, Gerrard says he’s especially gutted to be missing out.
“I think he’s apologised to his teammates after the Motherwell situation,” said Gerrard [Rangers].
“But that’s not important now, it’s gone. I think we have to focus on what’s available to us.
“He has been different this week because you can see in his face he’s disappointed he’s not available.
“He’s not a man that hides that disappointment very well. You could see in this morning’s session that he’s gutted he’s not available but that’s the man, that’s the player.”
As far as coping without Alfredo Morelos is concerned, Gerrard is confident enough in the squad that he’s built that Rangers can survive without the striker.
But the Rangers boss has put the onus on the players to go to Easter Road and prove that Rangers have the quality to take the burden off the on-form forward.
“Well I think what you do as a manager is have a squad that is capable of coping without any individual,” said Gerrard.

“We’ll see after tomorrow whether we can do that. Obviously, Alfredo’s a man in fantastic form but we believe we’ve got the squad capable of coping without any individual.
“It’s alright me sitting here saying that, but the players have got to go prove that.”
Rangers travel to Hibs on Friday knowing they can close to the Scottish Premiership gap to two points following Celtic’s 2-0 win over Hearts.
