A Rangers tweet about January midfield signing Aaron Ramsey and St David’s Day backfires as frustrated supporters criticise a lack of awareness.
The Gers support have been left frustrated by the January loan move for the Juventus midfielder who has played only 93 minutes of football as the Ibrox club stutter in the title race.
Rangers’ January business is coming increasingly under the microscope as the club go from six points in front to three behind with none of the four signings contributing enough as things stand.
Aaron Ramsey tops the list of winter signings but the likes of Amad Diallo, James Sands and Mateusz Zukowski have not looked like effectively contributing to the title charge or are considered squad players.
Cedric Itten – recalled from a loan spell with Greuther Furth in Germany – has also flopped since coming back to the club.
Speaking ahead of the clash with St Johnstone in Perth, Ibrox manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst admitted that things have not gone to plan surrounding the Welsh international.
“I don’t have a clear timeline. Hopefully he can join the team very soon,” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].
“He is already working on the pitch again, so hopefully in the near future we can welcome him back in the squad.
“Of course we wanted Aaron to be involved more than he is now, but the most disappointed is Aaron himself. It’s football, you very rarely get the ideal scenario as a coach.”
Aaron Ramsey tweet not a hit with Rangers fans
Now set to miss his fourth straight game through an injury Rangers were sheepish about discussing only last week, the entire thing has fans angry amid suggestions we’ve slept in the transfer market.
If Aaron Ramsey cannot get fit and contribute to Rangers’ title charge, and the club do not retain the Premiership crown, the move will go down as one of the most ill-advised in Scottish footballing history.
So, you’ll forgive supporters for pouncing on a tweet about Aaron Ramsey and the Patron Saint of Wales as the criticism continues amid a run of woeful form.

It’s only a tweet, but it suggests to supporters that the club are out of touch with the feeling of the fans as pressure mounts at Rangers amid a run of 13 points out of 24 in the league.
The Ramsey tweet isn’t the only thing that is apparently “out of touch”, as leaders in the online Rangers community slaughter a reported move alongside Old Firm rivals Celtic.
