Rangers manager Steven Gerrard suggested that the club are willing to give Academy graduate Jamie Barjonas more opportunities in the coming weeks to help develop his game.
Speaking after Barjonas hit the Ibrox side’s second against Nice in a 2-0 win in Lyon, Gerrard talked up the player as enigmatic and challenged him to unlock his potential.
In doing so, Gerrard also suggested that there is a place in the squad for Barjonas should he seize the opportunities which come his way.

“I’m pleased for Jamie. This is the first time since I have been in a first-team game that he has really shown personality,” said Gerrard [RangersTV].
“We know he has got that, we think he is better than what he has shown.
“So he will stay around us a bit longer and we’ll try and get him a few more opportunities.”
However, the Daily Record also reports that the 21-year-old midfielder could be set to head out on loan this season.
Barjonas has had previous loan spells at the likes of Bury, Raith and Partick Thistle and the Record believes the bears are eager to loan the English-born centre mid out to get game time.
According to the report, Burton Albion, Ayr and Orange County SC are all interested in securing the services of Barjonas for the upcoming season.
Barjonas has been at Ibrox since he was nine years old and broke through into the Rangers side way back in 2016.

He has gone on to make nine appearances for Rangers in total and Ibrox gaffer Gerrard wants to see more from Barjonas if he’s to add to them.
Meanwhile, Rangers fans are convinced Steven Gerrard took aim at an Ibrox youngster in comments he made about Academy players.
