Rangers signing Roofe shares first impressions of Ibrox on Instagram

New Rangers signing Kemar Roofe has shared his first impressions of Ibrox on Instagram before teasing supporters ahead of Sunday’s clash with St Mirren.

Roofe was officially announced as a Ger on Tuesday afternoon, as he arrived on an undisclosed fee from Anderlecht.

The 27-year-old signed a four-year contract and joins with the ambition to play European football and to win trophies.

At this point, it looks highly unlikely that he’ll start against the Buddies this weekend, despite having had a few days to settle in.

The forward hasn’t played a competitive fixture since December and Steven Gerrard thinks it will take him a while to get up to speed.

“Cedric [Itten] is ready to go,” he said, as quoted by the Evening Express. “He’s trained fully today so he’s available for Sunday.”

“But as for Kemar, we’re monitoring his situation as the game might come a little bit too soon. He still needs a bit of conditioning.

“I’d say he is still a week to 10 days behind the squad in terms of general fitness. We’ll continue to speed him up but St Mirren might be a bit early.”

Roofe has managed to get down for his first peek at Ibrox, though, and it looks as though he was impressed by the facilities.

The player posted a video to his Instagram story on Friday evening panning around the inside of the stadium with the caption ‘Not bad aye’ and two love heart eyes emojis.

He then signed off with a little teaser for Rangers fans, captioning a second pitchside video with ‘See you soon’.

Does that suggest he’s still got an outside chance of featuring from the bench on Sunday? Or will his first runout at Ibrox come next Wednesday against St Johnstone?

As far as most supporters are concerned, it’s a case of the sooner the better.

Roofe has had a number of injury problems in recent seasons, though, and the coaching staff will be keen not to push him too hard too early.
