Rangers summer signing Jon McLaughlin currently tops the Premiership clean sheet chart, while Ryan Kent and Borna Barisic have made the SPFL TOTW.

The Gers ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday, bouncing back from the disappointment of dropping points at Livingston the previous weekend.

It continued a remarkable run of defensive form from Steven Gerrard’s side, who are yet to concede a goal in domestic football this season.

The run of five clean sheets in a row to start the season has equalled a 91-year record with Rangers securing shutouts against Aberdeen, St Mirren, St Johnstone, Livi and Killie.

Summer signing McLaughlin has played a major role in that success.

The Scotland international stopper joined the club on a two-year deal back in June to provide competition for Allan McGregor, but after the usual Ibrox no.1 picked up a knock in the Europa League clash against Bayer Leverkusen, McLaughlin got the call-up.

The ex-Hearts and Sunderland stopper has excelled so far, marshalling his defence well and pulling off some strong saves.

With four clean sheets from his four appearances to date, he’s currently top of the pile in the Premiership ahead of Ofir Marciano (3), ex-Ger Jak Alnwick (2) and Ross Laidlaw (2).

Meanwhile, both Borna Barisic and Ryan Kent have been named in the SPFL TOTW for their strong performances against Killie.

Barisic helped secure the clean sheet as well as setting up Kemar Roofe’s opener, while Kent made the points safe with the second goal, his third in five Premiership appearances so far this season.

Rangers currently sit top of the league table on goal difference and travel to Hamilton on Saturday looking to continue their largely impressive start to the campaign.
