Rangers have issued five million new shares at 25p apiece, bringing an extra £1.25m worth of investment into the club with the Gers now enjoying a £14.25m cash injection.

Price of Football founder Kieran Maguire made the revelation on his official Twitter account as Rangers continue to raise fresh share issue investment.

The £1.25m of investment comes after the Ibrox side announced the sale of Nathan Patterson to Everton in a deal which could reach up to £16m.

However, details surrounding the deal – made clear by club insider Four Lads Had a Dream – claim that Rangers will only see £9m of this up front.

Another £3m of the Nathan Patterson deal will be paid in instalments whilst the Gers could rake in a further £4m based on a series of add-ons attached to Nathan’s transfer.

The club have also managed to insert a sell-on clause into the contract.

On top of this, Four Lads also claim that Rangers raked in up to £4m from Aston Villa following the departure of Steven Gerrard and his backroom staff.

Whilst there would’ve been some investment into the new Dutch coaching team in the background at Ibrox, given Giovanni van Bronckhorst was unattached this means unlike Villa Rangers didn’t need to pay any compensation for their new manager.

Taking the £9m up front for Nathan Patterson, the £4m for Steven Gerrard’s move to Aston Villa and this fresh £1.25m share issue, it means Rangers have benefited from a fresh £14.25m cash boost in recent weeks.

This almost certainly puts the club in a strong position regarding their biggest assets with Rangers now in a strong negotiating position should the Premier League come calling.

In other news, Rangers have reportedly made their move for a Scotland international defender the club have a “vested interest” in.
