Rangers are set to land a significant cash reward from UEFA following their Europa League win over Lech Poznan.
The Gers triumphed 1-0 at Ibrox on Thursday night courtesy of a goal from substitute, Alfredo Morelos, as they continued their perfect start to Group D.
With six points from their opening two matches, Steven Gerrard’s side are second in the group, only behind Benfica on goal difference.
Therefore, things are nicely poised prior to a doubleheader against the Portuguese giants.
The Rangers board will be particularly happy, as the victory will see the club land another substantial cash reward from UEFA.
The Times recently reported that UEFA had written to clubs to warn them of a minor drop in prize money across the next five years and as a result, the exact amount the Gers will receive cannot be confirmed.
However, during the 2019/20 campaign, a win in the group stages was worth €570,000 (approximately £514,000) and football-coefficient.eu asserts that the same reward is being offered this season.
That’s more than the club secured from any player sale in the summer.
With the Gers theoretically earning over £1 million across the last two weeks through their victories over Standard Liege and Poznan, their provisional UEFA prize money pot from the 2020/21 campaign now stands at €5,957,170 (approximately £5,373,749.25) [football-coefficient.eu].
That figure factors in a substantial ten-year coefficient payment and rewards for progressing through each qualifying round.
If Rangers can continue to secure positive results and eventually progress to the Round of 32, they will push their prize money haul in the direction of £10 million.
