Rangers are set for a welcome boost ahead of their tie against Hibs on Wednesday evening, with the Edinburgh side missing midfielder Joe Newell for the league clash at Ibrox.
Newell missed Hibs last match against St Mirren, which ended in defeat, and although he is currently being assessed, it looks increasingly likely that he could miss the matches against Rangers and Arbroath in the Scottish Cup.

The Englishman has made 27 appearances this season so far, scoring once and providing three assists and with him missing in the centre of midfield, Hibs could struggle majorly.
Rangers can take advantage of Hibs missing Joe Newell
Hibs could be lacking in the midfield department with the absence of Newell, and this is something that Rangers can exploit as they aim to make it back-to-back wins.
The Ibrox side totally overran the Hearts midfield in the 5-0 thrashing and with key players returning from injury and international duty, the onus is for the club to build momentum as Hibs come to Glasgow.
The last meeting between the two was a tight affair at Easter Road in December in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s second league match in charge.
A Kemar Roofe penalty five minutes from time was enough to guarantee the visitors all three points in what was a crucial victory that gave us some form of revenge for the League Cup defeat just a couple of weeks previously.
The team should be buoyed by their performance against Hearts and hopefully, this will carry on against Hibs.

There is no room for error and with an Ibrox crowd looking for another three points, everything is in place for Gio and his squad to deliver.
