Leading SNP politician Ian Blackford was left furious by the refereeing decisions in Rangers’ meltdown-inducing Scottish Cup win at Hibs.
The high-profile Hibs fan was left incensed by the decision to send midfielder Nathan Moriah-Welsh off in the match, only three minutes after Jordan Obita saw red.
Rangers were also awarded a first-half penalty – which obviously Michael Stewart didn’t think was a penalty – with the refereeing of the match getting right under the skin of the usual suspects.
Ian Blackford left furious at Rangers v Hibs
Furious about the indignation of it all, Ian Blackford furiously took to social media platform X to claim refereeing in Scotland “leaves a lot to be desired”.
They really thought they were going to beat us, eh?
Social media is awash with furious Hibs fans demanding we’re banned from their stadium or the pro-Rangers conspiracy at the heart of Scottish football is unravelled once and for all.
It’s a genuine thing of beauty to see Scottish football get so upset by the re-emergence of Rangers with the very real prospect of a treble a tantalising prospect for us, and a devastating one for them.
If the Scottish game can barely handle us being refereed fairly and winning away at Easter Road, we wonder how they’ll cope if James Tavernier and the rest of the team are hoisting three trophies above their heads come May?
Hampden set after professional Scottish Cup showing
It’s not Rangers’ fault that this immature Hibs team couldn’t compose themselves enough to keep 11 men on the field of play.
It’s also not our fault that Ibrox utility man Dujon Sterling – who later went off with an injury – was bundled over in the box in the most penaltiest of penalties you’re likely to see.
But don’t let the proper application of the rules get in the way of a good old moan and we’re sure Ian Blackford will see sense when he wakes up to his cornflakes in the cold light of day this morning.

For all of Hibs’ endeavour, Philippe Clement’s quadruple chasing Bears were the better team in the match and ran out deserved winners.
Blackford is the current SNP MP for Ross, Skye and Lochaber and the former SNP leader at Westminster, serving from 2017 to 2022.
Rangers defeated Hibs 2-0 at Hampden courtesy of goals from John Lundstram and Fabio Silva.
