Rangers star Ryan Kent “could be as good, if not better” than Real Madrid Galactico Eden Hazard, according to former teammate Kyle Lafferty.
The Northern Irish international – who has signed for Norwegian side Sarpsborg after leaving Rangers in the summer – clearly rates Rangers new £7.5m signing very highly.
So much so in fact, Lafferty believes Kenty can reach the heights which saw Hazard earn an £88.5m move to Real Madrid in the summer. Seriously.
“After one game last season I spoke to Ryan in the showers. People were raving about Eden Hazard and his ability to know what he’s going to do before the ball comes to him,” Lafferty told the Daily Record.
“I said to Kenty, ‘Mate, you could be as good as him, if not better.’
“He has everything in his locker. He could probably add a few more goals but the chances he creates and winning games is what he does. I’m excited already to see him play.”
Ryan Kent became Rangers’ second most expensive signing in history after joining the Ibrox club for a reported fee which could rise to £7.5m [Sky Sports].
Needless to say, Rangers supporters were buzzing.
A fan favourite from last season, Kent becomes Rangers’ eleventh signing of an eventful window and as Lafferty suggests, the most significant.
And if comparing the tricky winger to former Chelsea hero and 102-times-capped Belgium legend Hazard wasn’t enough, Lafferty puts him in the top three players he’s ever played with.
“Ryan’s in the top three of the best I’ve played with and I’ve had Dybala and Belotti as team-mates. I’m more than happy to say that as he provides something special,” said Lafferty.
“It’s about how he takes the ball, how he runs with it and I’ve seen him absolutely destroy defenders. He can do that even with three or four defenders around him.”
If Ryan Kent truly can be as good as Eden Hazard, then that £7.5m will prove to be a snip.
