Rangers winger Ryan Kent isn’t just one of the best signings in Scotland this summer – but he’s one of the best in the whole of Europe.
That’s according to Guardian journalist Niall McVeigh who included the talented 22-year-old on his “ten of the best value-for-money signings around Europe this summer” list.
It’s a real testament to Kent’s ability that he’d be included on such a high-profile list which includes the likes of Nabil Fekir (Lyon to Betis), Kasper Dolberg (Ajax to Nice) and Bas Dost (Sporting Lisbon to Eintracht Frankfurt).
Rangers eventually signed the highly-rated Liverpool Academy graduate in a stunning deadline day swoop which reportedly starts at £6.5m and could rise to £7.5m [Sky Sports].
Kent becomes the second most expensive signing in Rangers history and the transfer fee is a testament to how highly both Steven Gerrard and Rangers rate the player.
The fact Liverpool have reportedly included a 20% of next transfer fee clause also suggests the Anfield club are hedging their bets on a big-money move from Ibrox in the future.
Kent himself has said he has found a “home” at Ibrox and going by his recent social media activity, he’s just as excited as the Rangers faithful are to see him back in Glasgow.
There’s a lot of pressure, hype and money riding on the success of the young winger.
But do not bet against the transfer fee proving – as the Guardian have suggested – an absolute snip come May.
